How The Neighbor Times works

Local news, official notices, deadlines and neighbor help — in 15 languages, for Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC.

  1. 1. We collect from official sources first
County and city newsrooms, school districts, the National Weather Service, transportation agencies and official forms. We link to the source on every item.
  2. 2. AI helps, and we say where
AI helps draft, translate, summarize and structure. Articles compiled from government and official sources are published automatically after source, date and privacy checks and are labeled "TNT AI Briefing" or "Generated by AI". Only the highest-risk content — allegations about named people, personal data, active disputes, and legal, medical, immigration or tax advice — is held until a person approves it. Named bylines are real people.
  3. 3. Every language, the same facts
Articles, deadlines and alerts are shown in your language. Where a translation has not been reviewed yet, we say so and keep the English original one tap away.
  4. 4. Your neighbors speak for themselves
Community posts and recommendations are written by residents. They are labeled "Community submitted" and are not verified or endorsed by TNT.
  5. 5. Images carry their origin
TNT photo, official image, community submitted, or AI-generated illustration — the label tells you which. AI images are never presented as real photographs of an event or place.
