How fundraisers work on TNT

Local groups can post a fundraising campaign on The Neighbor Times. Here is exactly what TNT does and does not do.

1. TNT links out. It never handles money.
A campaign on TNT is publicity plus a link. The Donate button always leaves TNT, and the destination site (for example zeffy.com or gofundme.com) is shown right on the button. TNT never collects, holds, routes or reports funds, and there is no payment form anywhere on TNT.
2. Totals are what the group reports.
The goal and the amount raised are typed in by the group and shown as "as reported by {group} on {date}". TNT does not fetch or verify them.
3. The 501(c)(3) badge comes from the IRS list, with a date.
A group is shown as 501(c)(3) only when its EIN is found in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. We show the source and the check date, and re-check monthly while a campaign is live. Otherwise the card says "Personal / community fundraiser" and carries no tax language. TNT does not decide whether a gift is deductible — that is between you, the organization and your tax advisor.
4. Personal fundraisers are allowed and labeled. Political money is not.
A fundraiser for a named family or individual is permitted and labeled personal. Political candidates, campaigns and PACs may not fundraise on TNT.
5. "Supported by" is the group's own thank-you.
Supporter names on a group page are the group's acknowledgment list. They are not TNT advertising, cannot be bought from TNT, and have no effect on any ordering or placement on TNT.
6. The directory is newest first. There is no other order.
Community › Fundraisers sorts by the date a campaign was posted. There is no featured, trending, or sorted-by-amount view. Filters are group type, 501(c)(3) badge, ending soon, and language. Listing there is not a TNT endorsement.
7. Links are re-checked weekly.
Every donation link is checked for reachability, HTTPS, an unchanged domain, and a matching page title. If a check fails, the Donate button is replaced by "Link being checked" and the group is alerted. The campaign stays visible.
8. Before you leave TNT, we say so.
Every Donate click opens a short notice: where you are going, whose page it is, and when TNT last checked the link. If something looks wrong on the next page, come back and report the link.
