1. Information We Collect / 수집하는 정보

Account Information / 계정 정보

Email, name, ZIP code, phone number (optional), preferred language, persona type.

Documents & Forms / 문서 및 서류

Form Helper: When you use the Form Helper, your answers are processed only during your session to help you prepare a form. Sensitive fields (such as SSN) are never stored — you enter them yourself on the official form. Only the form's field structure is saved; your personal answers are not stored on our servers.

Document AI (receipts, tax & bookkeeping): If you choose to save documents to your account (for example, receipts or statements for bookkeeping), those documents are stored securely, associated with your account, and can be deleted by you at any time. This includes photos, videos and audio files you upload — for example a photo of a receipt, a form or notice you want explained, a short clip attached to a news tip, or audio for a story you are creating.

서류 도우미: 서류 준비를 돕기 위해 답변은 세션 동안에만 처리되며, SSN 등 민감 항목은 저장하지 않습니다(공식 서류에 직접 입력). 폼의 필드 구조만 저장되고 개인 답변은 서버에 저장되지 않습니다. 문서 AI(영수증·세금·장부): 사용자가 계정에 저장하기로 선택한 문서만 안전하게 저장되며 언제든 삭제할 수 있습니다. 직접 올리신 사진·동영상·오디오 파일(영수증 사진, 서식, 설명이 필요한 통지문, 제보에 첨부한 짧은 영상, 만드시는 이야기의 소리 등)도 여기에 포함됩니다. ★통역·음성입력에서 마이크로 들어간 소리는 이와 다릅니다 — 그건 글자로 바꾸는 데만 쓰이고 저장하지 않습니다.

Usage Data / 사용 데이터

We record which screens are opened and which features are used, so we can tell whether a change actually helped. This is stored on our own servers — not sold or shared. We do not record your account ID, IP address, precise location, or the content you read or write. The session identifier lives only for the length of a browser session.

We also use Vercel Analytics for anonymous page views, and we track reading preferences to personalize your news feed.

Location Data / 위치 데이터

ZIP code is required for local news. GPS is optional and triggered only by user action. Your browser or phone will ask for permission before sharing location. We use location at the ZIP, city or county level — we do not store precise coordinates for personalization.

In the mobile app: the app asks for location permission the first time you use a feature that needs it — emergency help, filling in your ZIP code during setup, pinning an event on the map, or sharing where you are in a conversation. We never collect your location in the background, and you can refuse or revoke it at any time in your phone settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

지역 뉴스를 위해 우편번호가 필요합니다. GPS 는 선택사항이며 사용자 동작에 의해서만 실행됩니다. 위치는 우편번호·시·카운티 수준까지만 사용하며, 개인화를 위해 정확한 좌표를 저장하지 않습니다.

모바일 앱에서는 위치가 필요한 기능을 처음 쓰실 때 권한을 여쭙습니다 — 긴급 도움, 첫 설정의 우편번호 자동 입력, 지도에서 행사 위치 찍기, 대화에서 위치 공유. 배경에서 위치를 수집하지 않습니다. 거부하시거나 나중에 휴대폰 설정에서 취소하셔도 나머지 기능은 그대로 쓰실 수 있습니다.

Mobile App / 모바일 앱 (Android)

• Notifications: If you turn on alerts, we store a notification token for your device, along with your language and ZIP so the alert arrives in a language you read. You can turn alerts off at any time in your device settings; the token stops being used.
• Microphone: The interpreter needs your microphone while it is running. Interpretation audio is not stored — speech is converted to text, translated, and spoken back. We keep no recording. The microphone is used only while the interpreter screen is open.
• No advertising ID: We do not collect an advertising identifier and we do not use your data for advertising.

알림: 알림을 켜면 기기 알림 토큰과 함께 언어·우편번호를 저장합니다 — 읽을 수 있는 언어로 경보가 도착하게 하기 위해서입니다. 기기 설정에서 언제든 끌 수 있습니다. 마이크: 통역이 실행되는 동안에만 사용하며 통역 오디오는 저장하지 않습니다(말→글자→번역→음성으로 처리하고 녹음을 남기지 않습니다). 광고 식별자를 수집하지 않으며 데이터를 광고에 쓰지 않습니다.

2. How We Use Your Information / 정보 사용 방법

• Personalize local news and content based on your ZIP code and preferences
• Process documents using AI for data extraction and categorization
• Translate content into your preferred language
• Send notifications about local events, deadlines, and safety alerts
• Improve our AI translation quality through anonymized corrections

우편번호와 선호도에 기반한 지역 뉴스 개인화, AI 문서 처리, 콘텐츠 번역, 알림 발송, AI 번역 품질 개선에 사용됩니다.

3. Third-Party Services / 제3자 서비스

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Google Gemini AI — Document analysis, content generation, translation review
• Vercel Analytics — Anonymous page view analytics
• AWS (Amazon Web Services) — Infrastructure hosting, email delivery (SES)
• ElevenLabs — Text-to-speech audio generation
• Sentry — Error monitoring (PII is scrubbed from error reports)
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — Delivering notifications to the mobile app
• Google Cloud Speech-to-Text — Converting your speech to text during interpretation and voice input. Audio is processed to produce the transcript and is not stored by us.
• Stripe — Payment processing for credits and business subscriptions. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we never see or store your card number.

Google Gemini AI(문서 분석), Google Cloud Speech-to-Text(음성→텍스트 변환 — 오디오는 저장하지 않습니다), Vercel Analytics(페이지뷰), AWS(인프라), ElevenLabs(TTS), Stripe(결제 — 카드번호는 우리가 보지도 저장하지도 않습니다), Sentry(오류 모니터링)를 사용합니다.

4. Data Retention / 데이터 보관

• Account data is retained until you delete your account
• Uploaded documents are retained until you manually delete them
• Authentication tokens expire after 7 days
• Analytics data is anonymized and retained per Vercel's policies

계정 데이터는 삭제 시까지, 문서는 수동 삭제 시까지, 인증 토큰은 7일, 분석 데이터는 Vercel 정책에 따라 보관됩니다.

5. Your Rights / 사용자 권리

You have the right to:

• Access — View all data we have about you
• Delete — Delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account
• Export — Download all your data in JSON format via Settings → Export My Data
• Correct — Update your profile information at any time
• Opt-out — Decline cookies, disable notifications, unsubscribe from emails

접근, 삭제, 내보내기, 수정, 수신 거부 권리가 있습니다. 설정에서 계정 삭제 및 데이터 다운로드가 가능합니다.

6. Children's Privacy / 아동 개인정보

The Neighbor Times is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

본 서비스는 13세 미만 아동을 대상으로 하지 않습니다. 13세 미만 아동의 개인정보를 수집한 것을 알게 되면 즉시 삭제합니다.

7. Cookies / 쿠키

We use essential cookies for authentication and optional analytics cookies (Vercel Analytics). You can accept or decline non-essential cookies when you first visit the site.

8. Security / 보안

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, JWT authentication, rate limiting, and security headers (HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options). Sensitive data in error reports is automatically scrubbed.
