Renowned burger chain Five Guys has set out to broaden its connection with the public by releasing a short documentary series on an OTT platform, highlighting its global employee competition.
Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, Five Guys announced that it has officially released its video docuseries, "On The Line: The World Burger Games," on Amazon Prime Video, chronicling the journey of its global internal competition.
The series is based on the "Five Guys Games," a company tradition established in 2013. The event brings together crew members from stores worldwide to compete in the speed and precision of daily kitchen operations—such as dressing burgers (the QC race), prepping potatoes, and stacking cheese. Marking the company's 40th anniversary this year, the competition has been unveiled to the public through global media for the first time.
The series vividly captures the competitive process and inspiring human stories of crew members gathered from all corners of the globe, including the eight elite finalists.
Molly Catalano, spokesperson for Five Guys, stated, "Beyond a simple skills competition, we focused on highlighting the lives, passion, and personal stories of the crew members who hold down the front lines. With elements of a heartwarming human sports drama, it will resonate not only with those who have worked in the food service industry but also with family audiences."
The scale of the competition's prize purse has also drawn significant attention. A grand prize of $100,000 (approximately 130 million KRW) is awarded to the champion, while second and third place receive $50,000 and $25,000, respectively. Demonstrating thoughtful consideration, the company covered the equivalent tax amounts in advance to ensure the winners receive their full prize money without any tax burden.
Consisting of five episodes, the series was co-produced by prominent sports and entertainment production companies Full Day Productions and Lost Tribe Creative.
Founded in 1986 and celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Five Guys has grown into a global restaurant brand operating more than 2,000 locations across 30 countries worldwide.
