Department of Permitting Services, Apprentice License Process If an electrical master, limited master, journeyman or apprentice identification card or license has been lost or damaged and you wish to obtain a replacement, you may do so by mail or in person at the Department of Permitting Services offices. Email: DPS.Electrical-Mechanical@montgomerycountymd.gov Office: 2425 Reedie Drive, 7th Floor Wheaton, MD 20902 Key Information Before You Begin Requests for duplicate identification card(s) or license(s) can be submitted by mail. Request letters are received, processed, and mailed out within ten (10) business days. The request letter can also be submitted in person at the Department of Permitting Services offices. The duplicate identification card or license is processed while the applicant or authorized representative waits. Process Guide Duplicate Identification Card or License Written Request and Fee Payment Provide a brief but detailed written request letter for the duplicate identification card or license. Specify in the request the individuals name, business name, current address, license number and submit in person or via US mail with the following information included: If requesting a duplicate identification card; a photo to generate the replacement ID Card. Options for photo submittals are as follows;

  • Email us a front-faced professional looking photo in JPEG format to: DPS.Electrical-Mechanical@montgomerycountymd.gov
  • Visit DPS offices and have a photo taken. A non-refundable payment must be made at the time of application package submission. This will be done online (you will be notified and given instructions how to pay online once your request has been processed). License Approval and Issuance The request letter is reviewed by DPS Staff. Any incomplete or deficient applications will be returned to the applicant. Upon processing, DPS Staff will generate a new duplicate copy of the identification card or license and hand or mail it to the applicant or authorized representative.
