  • Pay-by-Plate Conversion at Garage 36 – Auburn - Del Ray Garage in Bethesda- Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is preparing to transition Garage 36 – Auburn - Del Ray Garage to a new Pay-by-Plate parking system. - Customers will be able to pay for parking by entering their vehicle license plate number using Passport Parking, ParkMobile, or an on-site payment kiosk. - The tentative go-live date is on or about July 20, 2026.

  • Painting project at Lot 14 and Lot 17 in Wheaton- Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin painting project at Blueridge-Hickerson Lot (Lot 14) and Price-Fern Lot (Lot 17) in Wheaton. Project includes painting curbs and light pole pedestals. - Project is scheduled to begin on May 19, 2026 and is expected to be completed by May 21, 2026. This activity will not affect the operation of the lots.
  • Kennett Street Garage (Garage 9) Waterproofing project- Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin Waterproofing project - construction phase at Kennett Street Garage (Garage 9) in Silver Spring. This critical initiative is designed to prevent and mitigate water intrusion in the elevator machine room, elevator pits, and the stairwell area adjacent to the elevators within this parking facility. - Mobilization will commence on May 4, 2026 with project completion anticipated by end of July 2026. This timeline may be adjusted if unforeseen site conditions or technical issues arise during construction.
  • MCDOT Schedules Spring Cleaning of County Parking Garages- The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin its Spring washdown of all 21 County-owned parking garages in Silver Spring, Bethesda and Wheaton. The cleanings are scheduled to begin in the Bethesda garages on April 13 and end in the Silver Spring garages on June 9. - Learn more about the cleaning and get the full schedule.
  • Woodmont Corner Garage (Garage 11) Planned power outage- To support the EV charger project at Woodmont Corner Garage (Garage 11) in Bethesda, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management has planned a power outage on October 6th, 2025, from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
  • MCDOT Hosting Outreach Events for Security Robot Pilot Program- MCDOT is hosting a series of outreach events to provide information, answer questions and to gather feedback via electronic and paper surveys about a possible pilot program using a security robot, named Parker, in the Town Square Parking Garage (Garage 61) on Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring. The series of events will include Wednesday, August 20; Sunday, August 31 and September 7; Thursday, September 18; and Saturday, September 27 in front of the MCDOT Parking Store, located at 801 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring. A life size cut out of the robot will be available to give the public a sense of the size.
  • Great Seneca Science Corridor (GSSC) – Mobile Payment Only Conversion- Effective on or about Tuesday, September 16, 2025, approximately 75 metered parking spaces along Blackwell Road in the Great Seneca Science Corridor will be converted to mobile payment only. This contactless upgrade is part of MCDOT’s ongoing modernization efforts, designed to: - Enhance user convenience by simplifying payment options
  • Reduce infrastructure and maintenance costs
  • Provide a new, single zone number: 1601113 for easier access
  • Please note: - Approximately 14 metered spaces on Blackwell Road will remain and continue to accept coins.
  • An additional 10 metered spaces on Medical Center Drive will also remain operational.

  • Metropolitan Garage (Garage 49) Staircase Repair Project- The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin project to the staircase located directly adjacent to Elevators 1 and 2 at the Edgemoor Entrance. These essential repairs will encompass a comprehensive repair inside the staircase itself, along with necessary repairs to the ground floor slab located in front of Elevators 1 and 2. The repair scheduled to begin on August 21, 2025, and is expected to be completed by mid-November 2025.
  • MCDOT Schedules Fall Cleaning of County Parking Garages- The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin its Fall washdown of all 21 County-owned parking garages in Silver Spring, Bethesda and Wheaton. The cleanings are scheduled to begin in the Bethesda garages on September 15, 2025 and end in the Silver Spring garages on November 11, 2025.
  • Waverly Garage (Garage 47) Storm Drainpipe Replacement Project- The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin storm drainpipe replacement project at Waverly Garage (Garage 47) in Bethesda. The project is scheduled to begin on May 28, 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2025.
  • MCDOT Schedules Spring Cleaning of County Parking Garages- The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management is scheduled to begin its Spring washdown of all County-owned parking garages in Silver Spring, Bethesda and Wheaton. The washings will occur on nights and weekends and scheduled to begin from April 7, 2025 to June 4, 2025
  • Power Outage at Bonifant-Dixon Garage (Garage 5)- To support Purple Line Project development, there will be a Power Outage by Pepco at Bonifant-Dixon Garage (Garage 5) in Silver Spring from 10 pm today (March 11) to 6 am on March 12, 2025.
  • NEW PERMIT - Specialized Service Provider- The Specialized Service Provider permit was established to provide discounted parking for licensed childcare providers that receive or State or County subsidies; or accept subsidize placement; and is located within the Parking Lot Districts of Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton. - A review of eligible criteria will be undertaken by the Division of Parking Management, and if approved, a limited number of permits may be released at a discounted rate. - (PDF format).   • Metropolitan Garage (Garage 49) Elevators modernization project- Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will begin Elevator modernization project (Elevators #3 and #4) in Metropolitan Garage (Garage 49) in Bethesda. Elevator #3 will be out of service effective February 17, 2025 and is expected to return to service in June 2025. Once elevator #3 back online, the modernization of Elevator #4 will begin and is expected to be completed by end of November 2025.

  • Snow Emergency Declared for Montgomery County Effective Mon. Jan 6, 2025 at 12 am- During the snow emergency, Parking is prohibited along "Snow Emergency Routes" and "Snow Emergency Lots". Fees for County parking garages are waived during the Emergency.
