Preschool Registration Alexandria City Public Schools is a part of the ALX Preschool Network dedicated to providing high quality early learning experiences to children 3 and 4 years of age. Network members work together to make it easier for parents with limited financial resources to find preschools that meet their unique needs. Parents complete a single application that is shared with partner agencies to determine the best fit based on eligibility requirements. Most services are free. Families must meet certain income requirements and children must be 3 or 4 by September 30. Important 2026-2027 Dates
| March 9 | 2026-2027 School Year applications open on March 9. ALX Preschool will contact you within 20 business days to schedule a review of your application and collect required documents. |

| May 15 | Program registrars send offer letters to families. |
| June 1 | Selected families must accept/decline offer. |
| June 4 | Second priority deadline. |
| AFTER June 4 | Families that apply after the second priority deadline will be considered on an ongoing basis. |
| June 9 | Program registrars send offer letters to families. |
| June 26 | Selected families must accept/decline offer. |
| Mid-August | Preschool starts August 26. Before the school year begins, your assigned ALX Preschool registrar will email the family with the school assignment, school start date, and other important information. |
