Abandonment Case 771 (Ellsworth Drive) The Applicant has petitioned Montgomery County to consider a limited abandonment of Ellsworth Drive between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Street. The Petition explains that the Applicant desires the right-of-way for Ellsworth Drive be limited to pedestrian and essential vehicular traffic only. The Petitioner defines essential vehicles as emergency and delivery vehicles. Thus, the Applicant seeks to exclude normal vehicular traffic from Ellsworth Drive. The Applicant contends, except for essential vehicles, that the right of way for Ellsworth Drive is (1) no longer presently needed to support vehicular traffic and, (2) there is no anticipated need for Ellsworth Drive to support vehicular traffic in the foreseeable future.
