National Archives Warns Vendors to Beware of Fraudulent Solicitations Media Alert · Tuesday, August 9, 2022 Washington, DC The National Archives and Records Administration warns that criminals are fraudulently impersonating procurement officials in order to steal information technology equipment. Fraudsters are using the names of legitimate government procurement officials and spoofing government email addresses to order equipment from vendors. They then steal and resell the equipment, and vendors never receive payment. To help avoid falling prey to such scams, vendors should double check email addresses before responding to Requests for Quotes. These fraud schemes have existed since at least 2016 and continue to be investigated by law enforcement officials.
