What We Do

We are the Baltimore City Department of Transportation

We work to make sure everyone in Baltimore can get where they need to go safely and easily. Our goal is to build a transportation system that is safe, dependable, and easy for everyone to use.

Our Goals:

  • Take care of roads, sidewalks, and bridges.
  • Improve traffic flow and make transit areas work better.
  • Upgrade our systems to keep up with Baltimore’s needs.
  • Make signs and streetlights easier to see and understand.
  • Make transportation services faster and simpler.
  • Help the city grow and support local communities.

We manage 2,000 miles of roads, 7 miles of highways, and hundreds of bridges. We’re here to help make Baltimore more connected. When we work together, we can build strong and thriving neighborhoods.
